This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Kelloggs® Rice Krispies®.
As always, all opinions are my own.

We got our first snowfall a couple of weeks ago. It was just a dusting of maybe a half inch, but my daughter insisted on getting all of her snow gear on and heading outside to play in the snow.

Luckily her dad bundled up and joined her because even though I love Christmas and the holiday season, I have never been a big fan of the cold. In fact, if we could just have a couple days of snow right around Christmas day each year and that was it, I would be a happy camper for the rest of winter.

The how-to for these Snowman Pull-Apart Rice Krispies Treats that I am sharing with you all today is definitely more my speed when it comes to wintertime and snow.

I mean, how can you possibly go wrong with a cute edible snowman the whole family can enjoy? And bonus points since you get to stay inside warm and cozy to make this kind of snowman... ;)

prep time: 25 min cook time: 10 min total time: 35 min

ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 package (10 oz) KRAFT JET-PUFFED Marshmallows (I used the miniature ones for quicker melting.)
  • 6 cups Kelloggs® Rice Krispies® cereal
  • 2 (16 oz) canisters of your favorite vanilla icing
  • Orange food coloring
  • Sparkling sugar
  • Chocolate candy melts
  • Brown & red chocolate candies
  • Additional KRAFT JET-PUFFED mini marshmallows
  • 2 pieces of pull & peel red licorice candy (for the scarf)

instructions:

How to cook Snowman Pull-Apart Rice Krispies Treats

  1. Generously spray the inside of a 8 inch and a 9 inch round cake pan with cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add in the marshmallows & stir until completely melted. Remove from the heat, and stir in the Kelloggs® Rice Krispies® cereal until well coated.
  3. Using a buttered spatula or a piece of parchment paper or wax paper, evenly press the mixture into the greased cake pans. Allow to cool completely.
  4. Gently run a butter knife along the inside edge of each cake pan. Turn the round Kelloggs® Rice Krispies® treats onto a large cutting board. Using a pizza cutter, cut into slices but keep the circles intact. I did 3 rows across and 3 rows vertically for the smaller one, and 4 rows across and 3 rows vertically for the larger one. Arrange the Kelloggs® Rice Krispies® treat circles on the cutting board or on a large serving platter with the smaller circle on top.
  5. Using a pastry bag with a larger opening frosting tip, frost each of the circles with the white frosting covering completely. Reserve a little of the frosting and mix with a few drops of the orange food coloring. Using a separate pastry bag fitted with a smaller opening frosting tip, use the orange frosting to make a carrot nose for the snowman. Sprinkle the entire snowman with the sparkling sugar.
  6. Now comes the fun part- decorating! Grab the kids and get creative. We used chocolate candy melts to create the buttons and eyes for the snowman. Brown chocolate candies served as the mouth, while we used red chocolate candies to make a Santa hat for the snowman. We used mini marshmallows to create the fluffy lining on the hat and the white ball on the end of the hat. Red pull & peel licorice candies make a perfect scarf.
  7. Once the decorating is done, serve immediately! Guest can simply pull a piece of the snowman off and enjoy. Best if served the same day.
