I look forward to warmer weather all throughout winter. First of all, I am not a fan of snow or the cold. Yes, I know I need to move south or west. ;) But the other reason is for full-time grilling season!

We grill all year round in this house- even if we have to shovel a little snow to get to the grill- but once the warmer weather becomes a regular thing around here we are out grilling at least twice a week. Usually my husband is the one manning the grill, so that also means I get a little break from the kitchen. (Not complaining, folks.)

Two essentials that we always have on hand for grilling is New Heinz® Yellow Mustard and Heinz Ketchup. Before we fired up the grill last week, I headed over to my local Walmart to stock up on our grilling must-haves...

Grabbing our two faves was easy to do seeing as how the Heinz Yellow Mustard was on the shelf right above the Heinz Ketchup. It doesn't get much easier than that, folks. ;)

I also picked up some sliced ham, pretzel buns, and baby kosher dills because I had come up with a new burger recipe idea that I wanted to give a go. The inspiration? Soft baked pretzels dipped in delicious mustard! But I decided to give the burger a little Bavarian twist by adding some thinly sliced ham to the mix as well...

Bavarian Ham Burger

by Frugal Foodie Mama
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15-20 minutes
Ingredients (4 servings)
  • 1 lb of ground beef (I used 90% lean.), divided into 4 patties
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 4 pretzel buns
  • 8-12 slices of your favorite thinly cut ham (I used honey ham.)
  • Heinz Yellow Mustard
  • Baby kosher dill pickles, optional
Instructions
Heat your grill to medium-high. Once heated, place your ground burger patties on the grill. Season with salt & pepper, if desired. Grill 15-20 minutes or until burgers are cooked to your desired doneness. Place the cheddar cheese slices on the burgers during the last 1-2 minutes of cooking so the cheese can melt.

To assemble your Bavarian Ham Burger
Place one cooked burger on a pretzel bun. Top the burger with 2-3 slices of ham. Generously slather on Heinz Yellow Mustard. Top with the other half of the pretzel bun. If desired, place a toothpick through a baby kosher dill pickle and then stick into the top of the pretzel bun. Repeat for the other 3 burgers.

Enjoy! :)

Heinz Ketchup and Heinz Yellow Mustard have been our go-to condiments of choice when grilling out for years. But did you know that the Heinz Yellow Mustard that you have loved for years is now new and even better? :)

It has always had that secret blend of spices and vinegar, but the new Heinz mustard has been made even thicker so it doesn't sink into the bread. Do you all know what that means? No more soggy bread or buns, folks! ;) Is there anything worse than a juicy burger on a soggy bun when it starts falling apart?

And do you know that watery mess that always comes out first if you don't give the mustard bottle a good shake beforehand? Say goodbye to that! Heinz has designed their new Mustard top-down, squeeze bottle to prevent that first squirt of watered down product. No longer do you need to shake the bottle before using it. And that means you can get to enjoying those grilled burgers and hot dogs even sooner...
