Going Digital for the Holidays With Open Me

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Open Me, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #OpenMeHoliday  http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO

Confession time- I loathe going to the store to pick out a greeting card.
Not only at this time of the year, but pretty much any time of the year.
It never fails that someone with a shopping cart in hand will be blocking the very section of cards that I need to get to.  And then there is the awkward "excuse me's" while you crouch down and try to reach around the edge of their cart.

I always find myself in the greeting card section for a minimum of 30 minutes, but often longer.
Yes, I am one of those people who cannot just choose a card and go.  It has to be the perfect card for that particular person and occasion.  And if I can't find the perfect card, I would rather not give one at all...

Boy, am I happy to see a site like Open Me pop up this time of the year!  We typically send out the one size fits all holiday card to all of our family & friends, but I usually go out and buy a special card for my husband each Christmas.
Any time I buy a card for my husband, it is a grand quest.  Because when you are buying a card for the man that you love in your life, you want it to be better than perfect, right? ;)
I really want to let him know how much I appreciate everything he does for our little family, and how much I love him for all the hard work he does.

This year I decided to forgo the crowded greeting card aisle at my local store and head straight on over to Open Me.  I narrowed it down to four cards that I really liked and then took those cards to my friends on Instagram to help me make the final decision.   While I have to say I was little disappointed that the frolicking reindeer and the zombie couple didn't get a single vote, I was happy to that #1 & #3 were pretty much an even tie for the winning pick.
I decided to go with #1.  Only because I am really not much of a fan of the cold, or being in the snow for more than 20 minutes, so the winter wonderland one didn't feel quite authentic... ;)

I have to tell you all... I was super pleased with how easy Open Me was to use.
I had my personalized card finished and scheduled to send within 10 minutes!
And bonus- no trudging to the store or battling other card seekers!

You start by choosing your card.  Open Me makes it easy, peasy with cards already categorized by occasion...

Next. you start the personalization of your card starting with the inside of it.  You can add your own photo, personal message... even a photo and personal message on the back of the card!

I personalized my card with a photo of my husband and I kissing at our wedding reception.  (I wintered it up by adding a few snowflakes with an online photo editing site. ;) )  Then I added my own sentimental message... gush.

Once you have personalized your card, you preview it and then decide how you would like it sent.  They have 2 options- snail mail or a digital card.  I was blown away that you can send a snail mail greeting card for just $4- postage and all- and you do not even have to leave the comfort of your couch!  I don't know about you all, but I have been hard pressed to find a decent (let alone personalized!) greeting card at the store for just $4!

Since my husband and his iPhone are BFF's, I decided to send him the digital card.  Plus, it would seem kind of weird mailing him a card from me to our shared address and the digital option is free to members. ;)
I was able to choose an email option or a Facebook option and also to set the date that I would like for it to be sent.
You can even choose to invite others to "sign" your card before it is sent- how cool is that??  Great for maybe that group card at work for the boss, don't you think?  No trying to track it down to see who has it now and who still needs to sign it- genius!

You get confirmation of your scheduled digital or mailed card and voila! Done.

Who will be receiving your first personalized greeting card from Open Me this holiday season? ;)
