Whip up a 100% edible "graveyard" for Halloween this year with these easy to make Haunted Graveyard Rice Krispies Treats...
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Kelloggs® Rice Krispies®.
As always, all opinions are my own.
I always get excited when I see the calendar flip over to October each fall because I know that means that the month of all things Halloween has finally arrived. Ever since I was a kid, Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays.
I was fortunate to have been blessed with a very crafty & creative mama who always made my sister & I the best Halloween costumes each year for trick or treat. My grandparents hosted a big family costume party each October complete with games (bobbing for apples, anyone? ;) ), costumes, haunted decor, and of course spooky dishes and treats.
My parents took over hosting the Halloween costume party about 10 years ago, and I am always trying to come up with new boo-licious treats to bring to the party. This year I will be whipping up a 100% edible haunted graveyard using one of everyone's favorite classic treats- Kelloggs® Rice Krispies® treats!
Classic Kelloggs® Rice Krispies® treats forms the base for this hauntingly tasty sweet treat. I simply topped them with chocolate frosting and chocolate sandwich cookie crumbs, and then employed my 4 1/2 year old daughter to help me go crazy making our haunted graveyard come to life (or should I say come to death?).
We made tombstones from graham crackers, "planted" a few candy pumpkins, and liberally applied ghost-shaped sprinkles all over. I mean, what's a haunted graveyard without the ghosts, right? ;)
I am all about impressive, yet simple-to-make treats for the holidays. And these Haunted Graveyard Rice Krispies® Treats definitely meet both of my criteria!
I used edible markers to write on the graham crackers. If you can't find edible ink markers, then feel free to pipe some of the chocolate frosting to write on the "tombstones" instead.
Not only are these Haunted Graveyard Rice Krispies® Treats fun to make, but they are even more fun to share and eat! :)

instructions:
How to cook Haunted Graveyard Rice Krispies Treats
- Line a 13x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper making sure to leave at least a 1 inch overhang of the paper on each side of the pan. Spray the parchment paper with cooking spray. Set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add in the marshmallows & stir until completely melted. Remove from the heat, and stir in the Kelloggs® Rice Krispies® cereal until well coated.
- Using a buttered spatula or another piece of parchment paper or wax paper, evenly press the mixture into the parchment lined baking pan. Allow to cool completely.
- Once cooled, use the parchment paper to transfer the Kelloggs® Rice Krispies® treats to a cutting board. Remove the parchment paper.
- Spread about 2/3 of the canister of chocolate frosting evenly over top of the Kelloggs® Rice Krispies® treats. Spoon the remaining frosting in the tub into a pastry bag fitted with a fine tip. Set aside.
- Evenly top the frosting with the chocolate sandwich cookie crumbs, pressing them lightly into the frosting with your fingers or a rubber spatula.
- To prepare the graham cracker headstones:
- Using a black edible color marker, write sayings such as RIP, Go Away, You're Next, etc. on each graham cracker. Using the frosting in the pastry bag, attach ghost shaped sprinkles to each headstone using the frosting as "glue". Gently press each headstone down into the cookie crumbs & frosting. Finish decorating your edible graveyard with candy pumpkins & additional ghost shaped sprinkles.
- Cut into 12 servings. Best if served the same day. Enjoy!
